Every port has its own story and something special to offer. After sailing you have plenty of opportunity to discover these port cities and to enjoy the special atmosphere.

Friday

On Friday you are welcome on board from 2 pm onwards. During the afternoon we sail from Leeuwarden, past Grou and through the Princes Margriet Canal, to Sneek. During this 3.5-hour trip you can meet the other passengers and enjoy the Frisian landscape in a relaxed atmosphere.
Sneek is a vibrant water sports city. But Sneek is more! Besides water sports and the Sneekermeer, Sneek has much more to offer. The city is richly endowed with monuments and old cityscapes, has several museums, a cosy and varied shopping centre and is rich in terraces, cafes and restaurants.

Saturday

On Saturday we sail through IJlst to Heeg and we sail through Stavoren, depending on wind and weather, towards Enkhuizen. We arrive there in the late afternoon. The old harbours with its many terraces and cosy restaurants are refreshed throughout the day by the carillon of the "Drommedaris". Every quarter of an hour, it shows what a special atmosphere it entails.
The favourable location of Enkhuizen on the Zuiderzee made it attractive in the 17th and 18th centuries to establish a "Chamber" for the VOC. The "Drommedaris", the defence tower at the harbour, and the centre with the historic buildings still remind us of this prosperous time.

Sunday

After having breakfast, we will visit the Zuiderzee Museum, The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen brings the stories of people who used to live around the Zuiderzee to life. See, hear, feel, taste and smell everyday life. Walk over the cobblestone streets of the outdoor museum and step back in time! With more than one hundred forty historic buildings from places around the former Zuiderzee.
In the afternoon we sail through the Krabbersgat sluice onto the Markermeer towards Hoorn. You really must-see horn once. The past of the powerful United East India Company, which in the 17th and 18th century with its beautiful ships-maintained trade relations with Asian countries, you still can see everywhere. That gives the city its special atmosphere. You see the history not only in the old centre, but of course also at the port. It seems as if time has stood still. The sails are hoisted, the deck is scrubbed, and you can almost smell the spices the VOC took with them from their travels from the Far East

Monday

During the morning we leave the beautiful city of Hoorn, we can see the statue of Bontekoe sitting on the wall around the port behind us. We will head towards Volendam for a stopover in this fishing village. The dyke of Volendam with its many shops, restaurants and terraces, where hundreds of tourists enjoy the authentic atmosphere and the view of the harbour on a daily basis, we don’t want to miss this village.
During the afternoon we will sail towards Monnickendam. When we moor in the harbour of Monnickendam we immediately smell the smoked eel. Fish was once the most important form of trade for Monnickendam. There were more than thirty smokehouses. Monnickendam is just under Amsterdam and with the city bus you can be in Amsterdam central station (in the middle of the bustling city) within fifteen minutes.
If we arrive on time, visiting Amsterdam can be a nice ending of the day. When the entire group, in consultation with each other, wants to spend more time visiting Amsterdam, there is the possibility to change our schedule.

Tuesday

During the morning we leave Monnickendam in the direction of Lelystad. Where we are going to visit the Batavia shipyard! The Batavia shipyard brings the past back to life and enjoys great international fame for the reconstruction of the VOC ship the “Batavia” in the 80's and 90's of the last century.
The Golden Age and the major role that Dutch shipping has played in it, still speaks to the imagination almost 400 years later. By means of reconstruction of ships that have been of importance in our national history and the execution of the associated crafts, you can experience, feel and smell this part of our Dutch history in Lelystad.

During the afternoon we will sail towards Urk. Urk is a lively and characteristic fishing village and a former island. A picturesque village where the island "feeling" can still be experienced. Cosy squares, characteristic gables and many ornate decorations with anchors and boats. The fishing nets used to dry on the traditional green-and-white fences that we will see. The village centre of Urk was built without a clear structure. Therefore, we can discover Urk in with its jumble of streets.

Wednesday

We will leave Urk when it suits us and set sail for Lemmer. It will be a nice sailing day and maybe the last chance to sail for this trip, because tomorrow we will set direction through Friesland back to Leeuwarden. We cannot be sure yet if we are able to sail, due to the direction of the wind.
There is a lot to do in Lemmer. This old fishing village deserves the name Poort van (Gate of) Friesland. Lemmer has an atmospheric, maritime centre. This is the reason why many water sports enthusiasts moor in the middle of this village. It is also nice to walk around the “original” shops, often located in historic buildings. Popular are the cosy terraces along the port, because the boats pass by in front of them.

Thursday

Today we sail the Frisian lakes area, between Lemmer and Leeuwarden there is a succession of several large and smaller lakes. If the wind is good to us, we can still sail through the canals enjoying the sounds that nature has to offer. Otherwise we will have to use the motor. We will pass many bridges, villages, old farms and we can enjoy the view, in short on this last day there is still much to see and do. Furthermore, we will make a stopover in Grou.
Grou is in the middle of the watery heart of Friesland (Fryslân) and is the gateway to National Alde Feanen. The centre of Grou is very cosy, the beautiful shops invite you to go shopping. On summer evenings the terraces on the waterfront and in the centre, are full of fun. Via the "staande mast route" we will pass through Wijsea, and along the "froskepolle", the nature island. From Leeuwarden back to our harbour.

Friday

Today we have to say our goodbye’s and look back on a special, versatile and sportive tour. Perhaps your circle of friends has even become a bit bigger during this holiday.

Greta and Sytze will surprise you with delicious breakfast, lunch and snacks. We are also happy with your help in the galley.
During sailing you can help to hoist the sails? Help with the ropes, stand at the steering wheel. Or you can relax on deck or in the spacious lounge, read a book or play games. During this tour there is plenty of opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.
